Camp Gymnastics/Ninja

Camp Gymnastics/Ninja

We like to say that gymnastics builds character, but it really builds much more than that. It builds stronger children in many amazing ways! Listed below are just some of the benefits of our gymnastics program.

Self Confidence
One of the greatest things we can give a young child is self-confidence. Gymnastics builds confidence through small challenges built into each class. Activities, such as walking on a balance beam or climbing a rope, may seem daunting at first, but when broken into manageable progressions provide children with opportunities to achieve success.

Listening & Following Directions
Teaching children to listen is unbelievably important. Gymnastics combines the need for children to focus and pay attention to instruction with constant movement and activity.

Cognitive Benefits
When children are engaging in gymnastics, they are exercising their brains as well as their bodies. Research suggests a strong correlation between physical activity and academic achievement.

Movement and Coordination
Gymnastics helps to enhance the development of gross motor skills and coordination. By learning to jump, roll, swing, climb, balance and tumble in a safe environment, we reduce the risk of injuries in the “real world”.

Strength and Flexibility
There is no better activity for overall fitness, strength and flexibility than gymnastics. Gaining muscle strength through tumbling, jumping, rolling, flexing, and holding one’s own body weight in various positions help children develop strong and powerful bodies.

Fun Friday

Every day is fun at Action Kids Summer Camp, but Fridays…they are just special!

Whether it is Carnival Day, the Olympic Games or an amazing Talent Show, Fun Friday’s are a weekly tradition that make each summer new and exciting.

The magic of special events adds to the feeling of a strong sense of community at Action Kids Summer Camp.

We also offer Pizza Lunch on Fridays! For a nominal fee, campers can feast on pizza, snacks and juice at lunch.

Sign up for Pizza Fridays by logging into your parent portal.

Creation Station

Creativity abounds at Brentwood Commons!

Each day our campers have many opportunities to express their creative side! All campers have a creative, theme-based art project built into their weekly schedules. Some projects are individual projects, while other days campers will work together to create a group project.

Older Campers are often involved in creating larger scale projects for the camp. LITs and Junior Counselors will be given a role in preparing for the events on Fun Friday’s.

For Summer 2020, activities will be designed to maximize social distancing. Additionally, each camp group will have their own set of supplies.

Activity Clubs also offer campers an opportunity to flex their creative muscle — an inquisitive “Curious Kids Club” and an inspired “Creative Kids Club” are included in the daily programming.

Camp Swim

Why do we choose to add swimming to your child’s camp day?

Studies show that swim lessons offer children many benefits including;

  • decreased incidence of drowning
  • increased fitness
  • accelerated physical, intellectual and emotional development
  • better balance, strength and coordination
  • increased social confidence
  • swimming is a great activity for recreation that can be enjoyed by all ages

In other words….swimming is good for children. After all, “You can’t find a better sport to save your life”!

Camp Swim Lesson

Each day at Action Kids Summer Camp, all campers receive a structured swim lesson, taught by our WSI trained Water Wonders Swim School Instructors.
Students are grouped by age and skill level during camp instructional swim time.

We maintain low ratios in the pool, to ensure quality instruction and safety. Additionally during camp swim lessons there is always a lifeguard on duty.

We make every possible effort to provide the daily swim lesson and free swim time; however, if swimming must be cancelled due to unsafe conditions we do not provide a make-up.

Our pool is heated and warm all summer long. Kids will love it!

Open Swim

On a typical summer camp day, campers have the opportunity to enjoy some free time in the pool. Open swim is a big hit with all the campers. Not only is it a chance to play, but also a great way to re-enforce the skills the campers learned in swim class! Open Swim is supervised by Red Cross Certified Lifeguards and Camp Staff.

For Summer 2020, in order to ensure the safety of our campers, and comply with CDC and State of NH guidelines, Open Swim will not run as usual. Instead of having a separate time for Open Swim, a designated “Free Swim” time will be incorporated into each camp group’s swim lesson.

The Open Swim ratio is 10:1, including certified lifeguards and camp staff.

Pool safety rules are reinforced daily. Weak/non swimmers are required to wear flotation devices while in Open Swim.
